Proposal of Cover for The Rebels - Feedback Much Appreciated

Now that The Rebels is almost finished the first draft, I've been thinking of cover ideas. Something striking, yet simple. This is my first attempt. I would love some feedback before I send it to the cover artist.

Publishing the Future

There is no crystal ball out there showing us what the future will be like. There are only hints and suggestions, people who dare to make a forecast.

One thing is inescapable though. Change is coming and is here already here. It is not going away. The question is: will you embrace it, run from it in terror, stick your head in the sand and hope it will go away, or hold it off as long as possible as you hope that some logical course of action will magically present itself and tell you where to go?

Being Writer: Part 5, The Magic of Creation

For a person who is on Revision 10 of her current novel, the idea of editing has become an important theme in the current leg of my writing journey.

One of the first things I learned as a writer was to keep a notebook and pen with me at all times and to always write the ideas down when you’re caught in the throes of creativity. That lesson was learned the hard way. For some reason, the energy and vision of the initial idea must be captured fresh or you lose it. At least, that’s what happens to me.

I read a blog recently by Stella Deleuze, "Just Because You've Written a Book, Doesn't Make You a Writer" and I've decided to add my two cents worth.

With the ease of self-publishing beckoning with its siren call, everyone and his dog can write a book, pay to get it edited, covered and published. All of their family, friends and dearest acquaintances will dutifully read it and declare it a masterpiece and 'like', 'friend' and 'tag' the hell out of it.

But, and I'm going to go out on the same limb as the other blogger, it doesn't make them professional writers.
